This habitat-based theme is based on the plants of the North American Prairie, as we attempt to create a stylised interpretation rather than recreate a prairie. The range of plants used is influenced by the Dutch garden designer, Piet Oudolf, and they are carefully selected with consideration given to natural beauty, practicality and longevity. As there is more water available in these regions of North America these plants grow larger and are much more dominant. Mid July to November is when they look their best, but are at their peak in August/September.
