This gigantic Victorian family home has been sensitively reorganised into seven self catering apartments to provide you with a flexible range of accommodation whatever the size of your family or party – allowing you to be together, but apart.

From the moment you step through the door of the vast East Wing or West Wing you’ll find the splendour, scale and style so utterly different from anything you are likely to have experienced and with the door between unlocked, up to 16 of you can really have a taste of ‘country house living’ with modern day comforts in an area that covers the entire second floor of the house.

Any little worries you may have at the thought of staying somewhere called Lower Servants, will evaporate the moment you step into this glorious apartment sleeping 4 which was once home to the male servants.

You may be fuelled with righteous indignation at the thought of the female servants having to sleep one floor higher and in smaller rooms but you will discover that Upper Servants, also sleeping 4, has charms of its own, not least its ‘spotted dick’ furniture in the sitting room.

The higher you go, the smaller the rooms, but the climb to the Attic on the top floor, once home to the maids, will reward you with comfortable accommodation on a cosier scale and will sleep 5.

If you have children to visit at St Andrews University, want a little space from your grandchildren holidaying elsewhere in the house, or just want a short break ‘a deux’ then you will enjoy the The Garden and The Orchard, two charming little studio apartments in the Gardeners Wing.
