Seasons
Spring
Delight in acres of snowdrops, a National Collection of around 300, fabulous
hellebores, trilliums, spring bulbs and massed daffodils in the parkland,
culminating in The Tulip Festival. Feast your eyes on thousands of tulips
in the spring garden and thousands more cut tulips to whet your appetite.
Enjoy too the simple beauty of the woodland garden planted to complement
the spring bulbs and full of treasures.
Peep into greenhouses full of seedlings for the ornamental vegetable garden
and annual beds and huge cold frames storing cuttings for the garden and
plant sales.
Summer
Let the scents of summer enfold you along the lilac walk, marvel at incredible
rambler roses cascading over massive trees, or more gently festooning wires,
ropes and trellises – old-fashioned, historic roses galore create Cambo’s
Celebration of the Rose in late June/early July.
Meander through shoulder high borders, stumble across artists creating their
version of the sights they behold, hide away in a secluded corner.
Autumn
Inspiration will seize you as you behold stunning autumn borders aglow
with colour and relished by butterflies, colchicums galore underfoot and an
ornamental potager just reaching a crescendo. Capture the moment as the
grasses come to life, caught in the low sun.
Winter
As you enter the gardens on a winter walk, the first snowdrops will be there
to greet you, delicate scents waft unexpectedly on the breeze. Grasses and
seedheads glisten with frost and berries and barks add splashes of colour.
