Into the Roaring 2020's

An epic year of beautiful and varied weddings

As we venture into the Roaring 2020's, we would like to take this opportunity to look back at what can only be described as an epic year of beautiful and varied weddings and reminisce over some of our biggest and best moments of the last year including the huge success of our very own WedFest wedding fair. What else can we say? 2019 you have been an absolute pleasure!

Firstly, a huge thank you to all our wonderful couples for allowing us to be part of your special day. It has been our absolute pleasure to help you build your dream day around Cambo House and Gardens, creating so many glorious memories for all involved. A part of you will forever be etched in Cambo history!

Here is a throwback of 2019 weddings to reminisce all the good times!

Nicola & Gary- Kicking off the year with this lovely couple! A wild winter wedding where love was in the air, such a perfect match. The colour scheme was divine, rich warm winter hues set against the bride’s dress and a blizzard of snowdrops. A favourite of all the guests was the amazing whisky bar.

Deborah & Gordon- Wow! This was one of the brightest weddings we’ve hosted, with beautiful and bold sunflowers decorated throughout the house. The dining room could have been the subject of a Van Gogh painting! All other decorations were handmade, such a special individual touch. Their wedding cake certainly pulled on everyone’s heart strings with the family fur-babies taking centre stage.

Nicola & Andy- Acceptable to brand your guests? Removable tattoos were one of our most interesting and creative favours of the year, sweetened all the more with a side of Tunnock’s tea cake. The courtyard tables were set with twinkly lights and crystal-clear balloons, while the table names were Super Mario themed. The perfect mix of elegance and fun.

Corrine & Stuart- When two beautiful souls become one. A ballroom wedding before dinner outdoors. This beautiful marquee meal was set up with rustic tables and chairs and hand-made decorations including delicate floral hoops and a delightful wedding arch. And after dinner there was plenty of time and space for dancing the night away.

Rhiannon & Christopher- The weather was certainly on form for these love birds. Glorious sunshine and blue skies. The Courtyard ceiling looked heavenly with suspended elegant glass baubles. The flickering light of the candle’s shone throughout the meal and on into the night. Evening attire of leather jackets over delicate frocks set the scene for the TECHNO woodland party.

Victoria & Ewan- Perfectly planned Easter weekend! Deep purple vibes for the simply stunning flowers. An Easter egg hunt for the children was such fun! Fresh berry sweet cakes, a candle lit courtyard dinner then over to the party Marquee for the evening. These epic travel buddies knew how to make a plan come together.

Holly & Kieran- Pop up inflatable pub anyone? Oh, go on then! An extravaganza make-over for Cambo. These two beauties and their little fur-baby Lilah thought of everything from Cocktail bar, lawn games and sparklers on Saturday to hangover stations on Sunday for all those sore head needs.

Ami & Jason- A wedding of bold bright colours, graffiti artists, golden unicycles, dress changes, kilts galore and BUCKFAST. Fantastic Hindu/Scottish wedding with converse and henna painting. Ganesh looked over and the sun shone down on Ami & Jason.

Lesley & Sam- Love was all around this gorgeous couple! Lesley’s dress & Sam’s suit WOW! Hilarious speeches, an array of delicious homemade cakes from guests, colourful wigs and dancing in the rain. Finishing off this great weekend with a BBQ and silent disco on the Sunday.

Becca & Zane- When your bride and groom know how to mix "dem" tunes- their playlist alone was something special! Bringing the chilled vibes to a musical day, the piper, a simply stunning acoustic session and a grand finale of ‘Oh Flower of Scotland!’ Becca's gorgeous trouser suit wedding dress was magnificent, followed by a sparkly jumpsuit and trainers – swoon!

Jennifer & Jason- American dream!! First mid-week wedding of the year and boy did they bring the fun. Blush dresses & smart suits, Gatsby style! Does anyone love a sing along? Bride & Groom serenading each other with guests as backing was a sight to behold, move over Danny & Sandy!

Natasha & Daniel- Let us introduce you to the life and souls of the party, Natasha and Daniel! Tequila shots, photobooth fun, bouquet toss, which came first you ask? - It doesn’t matter! The day was so memorable from flowers to food, dresses to dancing. The best time was had by all.

Sophie & Andy- Traditional white dress, we think NOT, lady in red for this stunning Bride! These two brought the classy but relaxed experience to Cambo, with elegant and traditional touches throughout the day including their wine bottle table plans and gold leaf décor.

Gillian & Gavin- TATTIEBARN! If there was an award for best used venue spaces, these two would hands down win and we loved it. Everything in one place - bar, meal and reception and all surrounded by tattie boxes and fairy lights, what a combo. So glamorous too.

Danielle & Robbie- A perfect day for an al fresco drinks reception accompanied by lawn games and laughter. Party favours of scratch cards, was there a winner? We think Danielle and Robbie were winners in love. Followed later by photobooth fun and caricatures. What a fantastic couple who are just made for each other!

Catherine & Jonathan- A genteel and graceful occasion on the lawn, so beautiful. Their wedding arch was composed of silk and stunning pastel flowers. Ornamental lanterns and paper lace bunting was displayed in the courtyard. Delightful garden flowers on the tables. The loudest part of the day was the Piper!

Frances & Christopher- If you were looking for direction this was the wedding to be at. Amazing signage all leading to the best day. The main feature being the stunning stretch tipi tent in the woodland. With its rustic look and magical indoors/outdoors feeling, great fun was had by all.

Hayley & Graeme- Tartantastic! What a day and what a selection of tartans! Kilts, trousers and suits! This fun packed outdoors day started with the ceremony in the walled garden before moving onto the Lawn for a bubbling drinks reception in the sunshine. A fantastic marquee set up in the Party Woodland was the base for the Wedding meal where the guests stayed for the duration. Bonfires and marshmallows finished the day impeccably.

Roisin & Neil- A courtyard wedding with for this lovely pair. With bride and bridesmaids in soft pinks and purples with bouquets to match. The delicate florals also decorated the marquee in the woodlands yet were contrasted wonderfully by the many bright lanterns hanging from the roof and in all the trees. By evening they had all been lit, creating a fairy-tale party under the parachute.

Megan & Cillian- This wedding may have been indoors, but Megan and Cillian also made the most of the amazing outdoors spaces available at Cambo with couples photos in the beautiful walled garden and down on the beach. By the evening, everyone was dancing in the courtyard and playing lawn games in the twilight.

Shona & Darren- Not many couples manage think of everything, but Shona and Darren covered all options with mini burgers and mini beers AND a bouncy castle for their guests, and that was just the drinks reception!

Grace & Scott- When the sun is shining and the fizz is pouring, what more do you need? How about a pimp your prosecco station and picnic hampers on the lawn? Then throw in a great group of wedding guests to share them with. What a wonderful combination.

Raquel & Jamie – ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ This magical day for the magical couple flew by! The courtyard looked like Hogwarts Great Hall with floating lights and House banners. Luckily the Sorting Hat was here to allocate beautiful handmade wands and decide the table seating for everyone.

Carina & Raphael- French Chic meets Scottish Tartan at this family focused union. Every moment was stylish and serene, from the string quartet to the flower girls, the speeches to the first dance. Then the party started with The Jacobites bringing in the ceilidh.

Esther & Kiel- How many cakes would be ample after a beautiful wedding in the walled garden? How about five tiers of homemade cakes and a Cheesecake tower with all the trimmings? That would be plenty, but just in case Esther & Kiel chucked in a free bar and a tea & coffee station too. Happy couple, happy guests!

Ruth & Lee- Flower crowns topped the day for Ruth and Lee. The Bride’s hair and dress were reminiscent of a renaissance painting setting the scene for the whole day. A wonderful comedy moment formed in the shape of a fun fondant-icing pizza as the top layer of the wedding cake! However, the day was soon swept back to romance with the sweetness of their first dance.

Nikki & David- A wonderful afternoon lawn ceremony was bathed in sunshine and birdsong. Their beautiful floral arch was buzzing with bees. The scene couldn’t have been any sweeter, until they kissed of course! Picture perfect in every way.

Kirsty & William- These childhood sweethearts started their day with a traditional wedding ceremony at St Salvator’s Chapel in St. Andrews. Everyone arrived back for fizz and canapes in the courtyard before heading out for a night of food, fun and dancing in the amazing marquee on the Back Lawn.

Kerrie & David- The beauty is in the detail and Kerrie and David’s wedding was beautiful from start to finish, with beautiful hair clips to classy cufflinks, lush wreaths to elegant rings, nothing was too big or too small to be perfect. A traditional Scottish handfasting finished off the couple’s ceremony in the walled garden.

Sarah & Fraser- Sarah in her vintage style silk dress was definitely the star of this wedding with Fraser as her charismatic leading man in traditional kilt and gillies coat. This whole wedding felt like a classic movie. If you don’t believe us check out their amazing photographs.

Kim & Michael- The sun shone brightly, and the walled garden was vibrant with the sounds of acoustic guitar for Kim and Michael’s ceremony. The newlyweds enjoyed a quiet sip of fizz together before making their way to the back lawn for the most fun confetti tunnel we have ever had. The couple ran the gauntlet 3 times and never stopped laughing or smiling throughout the whole day.

Lindsey & Marc- Embracing the autumnal colour palette. Lindsay and Marc went all out with bouquets, wreaths and table settings, all rich with reds, oranges and yellow flowers and foliage. Generous wedding favours of pale ale and chocolates lined the candle lit tables. And we cannot forget the other star of the day, the little Yellow VW that brought the couple back to Cambo! One of our favourite vintage cars of the season.

Anne & Mark- These lovebirds created a beautiful and light-hearted friends and family focused day. With an intimate ceremony in the ballroom followed by the fab Funkeilidh playing sultry jazz music in the drawing room for the drinks reception. Jazz rippled on throughout the night with the couples amazing playlist.

Kirsty & Gerry- It was a cold one for sure, but this didn’t deter brave Kirsty from starting her day with a swim on Cambo Beach before returning to pop into her Marilyn Monroe inspired dress. She looked absolutely stunning walking down the main stairs with a sweet handmade bouquet. With dinner in the courtyard there was the offer of Grannies vintage coats for anyone that was feeling the cold or even better a wee nip of Grannies Gin!

Emma & Dave- A Jurassic Wedding. With an abundance of flowers, foliage and dinosaurs (yep you read that right!), the mezze grazing tables and the dining tables were a sight to behold – awesome. Nothing prehistoric about the bride and groom though, fabulous and fun throughout the whole day.

Lindsay & Garry- Live, unplugged and ready for anything. This memorable ceremony was held in the Ballroom, the captivating couple framed by a stunning floral arch. There was not a dry eye in the house and luckily Lindsay and Garry came prepared. Every little thing that a wedding guest could need, was provided. Tissues, tablet, a wee sloe gin and if that wasn’t enough, they also gifted the cutest gold animal favours.

Alison & Jonny- What a day! A brilliant courtyard wedding with everyone joining with the ABBA choruses. Pre-drinks, post-drinks, speeches drinks, and of course, dinner drinks and 2 bars for evening reception. Luckily there were breakfast baps for the evening buffet to help soak it all up! Great idea having breakfast before the hangover!

Nicola & Paul- A sea of winter white flowers and green foliage swept over Cambo for this wedding. All delicately lit with candles and fairy lights to create a fantastic backdrop for this intimate weekend. No detail was spared for Nicola and Paul’s wonderful weekend and every guest’s need was perfectly catered for.

Maria-Jose & Ramzi- The festivities started with some warm mulled wine to keep the wedding party toasty on this wild winter wedding weekend. A DJ kept the party going all day only breaking for the cutting of the pancake cake and a burl around the dancefloor with the Raging Ceilidh Band.

Sarah & Duncan- It might have been December but this was one of our busiest weddings of the year and a real family affair. Sarah and Duncan took it all in their stride and even had a few extra knots in their hand-fasting when their lovely girls Melody and Rose helped out.

Another memorable day for the Cambo team was at the end of April when we held our annual WedFest wedding fair! The less than favourable predictions from the MET office worried us a little but once again, the sunshine poured in on Cambo and bathed us in warmth. Over 40 outstanding suppliers set up for the event, with live-music, lots of delicious food and drinks to sample, axe-throwing on the lawn and even alpacas in the party woodland! The atmosphere was captivating. The Brides and Grooms-to-be were not disappointed, we had so much to offer them to set their wedding apart. We now look forward to WedFest 2020! Keep your eyes peeled for more information soon. Rain or shine, it already promises to be an event not to be missed!
